Hi, my name is Jordan Boehm. Originally from Mandan, North Dakota, I hold degrees from the University of Mary (BM & BS), University of Northern Iowa (MM), and I began a doctoral degree at the University of Iowa before returning to teaching. While attending these institutions, I performed with a variety of ensembles ranging from jazz bands, wind ensembles, orchestras, choirs, and various chamber groups. Notable among them includes lead trumpet for UIowa’s Johnson County Landmark, and being a member of the Northern Brass Quintet (UNI faculty ensemble). I have also been fortunate enough to appear with groups such as the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Chorale, Minot Symphony Orchestra, Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus, Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra, and Bis-Man Big Band to name a few.

I have held collegiate adjunct positions at Bismarck State College and Dickinson State University. My graduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa also placed me in a teaching role as a graduate assistant/instructor, and I have experience in middle and high schools. Most recently I concluded a 5 year stint at Memorial Middle School on Minot Air Force Base where the program consistently received top honors at festivals throughout the state in both jazz and classical settings. This included a performance at the North Dakota Music Education Association Conference in March of 2024.

As a composer, my works have been heard in various states throughout the Midwest, and also in Italy. Many of them were written specifically with personal groups in mind, while others have been commissioned by various schools and arts organizations such as Legacy High School, for whom I wrote the school song. Northern Iowa’s Jazz Band One has given me the honor of recording both Spillway and Yearning for Ordinary on their albums released in 2016 and 2019 respectively. The Bismarck-Mandan Wind Ensemble also prepared Resigned to Hope for use in a performance at the 2023 North Dakota Junior High All State Band Festival.
